    Human Resources Manager – Victoria Center

    This is a great opportunity for a management level position responsible for planning, coordinating, organizing and directing all aspects of human resources for 300 employees serving special needs clients.  Hands-on, “roll-up-your sleeves” position spans wide range of human resources functions including employee relations, employee advocacy, recruiting and retention, performance management, change management, coaching, compensation/payroll, unemployment, workers’ compensation, budgeting, benefits, health/wellness, employee development and training as well as the development and implementation of HR strategies, initiatives, policies and processes.  Challenges and opportunities exist for professional growth and skill development throughout the HR continuum.

    Devereux was founded in 1912 by Helena Devereux in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is the largest not-for-profit provider of behavioral healthcare in the country, operating 15 centers in 11 states - Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas.  More than 15,000 children, adults and seniors, with developmental, psychological, psychiatric, emotional, sexual and behavioral disorders are served annually. 

    Devereux Victoria has been serving special needs clients since 1959.  The campus is located 12 miles from Victoria, in a beautiful country setting with large oak trees and wildlife that can be viewed from every building on campus.  We serve children ages 5 years to 14 years and adults ages 18 years and up.  Individuals with emotional, behavioral and developmental disabilities are served via a broad spectrum of treatment settings including residential treatment, assisted living, educational programs, community-based homes and apartments, vocational training, life skills, and foster care homes.

    • Qualifications:  Minimum Bachelors’ Degree in Human Resources or related field.  PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
    • Experience:  3 – 5 years experience, preferably in not-for-profit, healthcare or similar organization
    • Skills Required:  
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
    • Sound working knowledge of complex HRIS systems, preferably Oracle
    • Demonstrated ability to thrive and perform in an ever-changing, fast-paced, demanding environment; 
    • Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in written work; 
    • Proficient knowledge of federal, state and local area employment laws
    • Superior conflict resolution skills
    • Proven ability to work with all levels within the organization
    • Ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills
    • Dedication to internal and external customer service
